Merial is partnering with your local public health officials to fight local epidemics of rabies in wildlife populations by providing a unique, highly specialized and safe vaccine, RABORAL V-RG®, oral rabies vaccine for wildlife. RABORAL V-RG® is approved for immunization of raccoons and coyotes, two of the most significant wildlife vectors or rabies in North America.
In the United States, agencies involved in rabies control efforts distribute doses of vaccine over wide geographic areas by airplane, helicopter or other means to immunize raccoon and coyote populations against rabies.
Depending on where you live, various factors determine how and when oral rabies vaccination (ORV) programs are conducted. To learn if your state is involved in an active wildlife rabies control program, please visit our Around the Country map.
Since coyote and raccoon populations often live in close proximity to humans, it is important to remember they are wild animals. To keep them in their natural environment, one should never encourage wildlife to accept human food. Be sure to limit access to outdoor pet food bowls and garbage cans.
